If you are interested in glofish, you probably want some ideas of how to set up their tank. While there are a wide range of colorful rocks and lights, people frequently forget about fish tank backgrounds. They are a great way to spice up your tank and bring it to life. This article will cover all of the best backgrounds for glofish.
Best background for a Glofish tank?
The best background for glofish are the Glofish color changing background, the Glofish city background, the GLOGLOW Aquarium Poster, and the Fantasy star background.
All four of these backgrounds offer illuminous colors that will go perfectly with your glofish.
Glofish color changing background
This is by far the best background for glofish. It was made specifically for glofish tanks that have the glofish light. The background changes based on the color of the light. If you have the LED light, it will become fluorescent under the blue light. There are some glofish tank decorations that also light up in the dark.
If you have the black LED light, this background will even show hidden images. This is the only fish tank that I know of with this feature. You can learn more in my article on how to install glofish LED light.
Best of all, while most glofish accessories are pretty expensive, you can get this background for only $10.
The only downside with this background is that it can only fit fish tanks that are 20 gallons or less. Luckily, you can buy two and combine them to fit a 55-gallon tank.
If you are thinking about décor to put in your tank, I suggest you match this background with spongebob theme decorations. This is because the background fits in perfectly as a bikini bottom backdrop.
Glofish city background
This background is also sold by the Glofish store and is designed specifically for a glofish tank. The background is two sided, so you can choose between the backdrop of a city, or a underwater cave.
This background is great if you have the blue LED glofish light. The blue light causes the background to glow up. You can purchase this glofish background for around $10.
I recommend this background if you have a smaller tank, as it fits tanks that are 10 gallons or less.
GLOGLOW Aquarium Poster
The GLOGLOW aquarium is also a great option. It has an underwater HD picture featuring coral and a scuba diver.
This background has a 3D look that really brings the fish tank alive. I think this is the best option if you plan on having live plants or coral in your tank.
There is also a wide range of sizes, so you should be able to find one that fits your tank. The price ranges from $13 to $30, depending on the size that you choose.
Fantasy Star Background
Last but not least, we have the Fantasy Star Background. While it isn’t designed specifically for glofish, it will complement their luminescent colors very well.
The HD picture features an out of space image with a lot of stars. It looks great under a LED light. This background also comes with 12 different sizes, so you should be able to find one that fits your tank.
The cost for this background ranges from $16 to $38, depending on the size.
Tips for putting on a background in your glofish tank
After you choose your background, it is important that you install it correctly. Below are some important tips to keep in mind.
- Size
Make sure that you measure your fish tank before you purchase a background. Since fish tanks come in different dimensions, you shouldn’t solely rely on the number of gallons.
To be safe, you should get a background that is slightly bigger than the surface area of your tank, so that you can cut it down to a perfect fit.
- Clean your tank
Before you attach the background, you should do a thorough clean of your tank. Make sure there is no residue on the glass of your fish tank. While cleaning the glass, make sure that you don’t use any soap, as this can cause your glofish to die.
- Press out air bubbles
Lastly, make sure to spread out any air bubbles when you attach the background. You can do this by pressing on the bubbles and sliding them to the edge. Air bubbles can spread rapidly, so make sure you get rid of all of them when you attach the background.
- Filter
I strongly suggest that you have a filter for your glofish tank. Not only will this help keep your glofish healthy, but it will also help prevent residue from collecting on the background. You should also perform regular water changes to help keep the water clean.
If you use tap water to fill up your tank, make sure you put a conditioner in the water to remove the chlorine. If you don’t a white substance might form on your background.
