Best AGGRESSIVE Fish For 55 Gallon Tank

Are you tired of the calm, peaceful fish that everyone has in their fish tank? Have you seen videos on Youtube of aggressive fish? Then perhaps you interested in getting some aggressive fish of your own. It is important to remember that aggressive fish do the best in bigger fish tanks, as smaller fish tanks don’t offer them the personal space they very much need. We think that a 55 gallon tank is the best size if you are looking to get some aggressive fish. Therefore, in today’s article, we will be reviewing the best aggressive fish for a 55 gallon fish tank.

Best Aggressive Fish for 55 Gallon Tank

1) Red Devil CichlidFile:Amphilophus labiatum, weiblich.jpg - Wikimedia CommonsAs the name suggest, the red devil cichlid is one of the most aggressive fish you can put in a fish tank. This predator fish is known for being very territorial, and many fish tank owners only keep them in the tank while they are young. However, if you have a 55 gallon fish tank, it is big enough to support this fish with other species. We recommend putting in a big rock or coral so that the red devil cichlid can claim it as its territory. 2) Jaguar CichlidFree Images - SnappyGoat.com- bestof:fish yellow african cichlid blue fin labidochromis aquarium tropical lake malawi macro cichlid caeruleus africa

This species gets its name from its aggressive behavior and its jaguar like skin. These fish are very aggressive, and we recommend only having 1 Jaguar Cichlid per tank. As these species get older, they prefer live bait that is high in protein. Therefore, if you don’t want it eating your other fish, we recommend feeding it live bait. Young Jaguar Cichlids are perfect for a 55 gallon tank. However, the adults can reach up to 15 inches. We recommend switching them to a bigger tank once they reach the length of 10 inches.

3) Dwarf Pea Puffer

When it comes to the Dwarf Pea Puffer, looks can be very deceiving. While this species only reaches the length of 1-2 inches, they are extremely aggressive and are known for fighting with fish of bigger sizes. We recommend getting a couple of these species so they can form a gang and protect each other. You should also put a lot of vegetation in your 55 gallon tank so that it gives these fishes a place to hide if needed.

4) Oscar Fish

The Oscar fish is one of the most unique looking fish on this list. Their scales are often a variety of random colors (ranging from blue, oragne, black, yellow), making them one of our favorite aggressive fish for a 55 gallon tank. While the Oscar fish is not 100% carnivore, they are still very aggressive (especially when they become adults). They are commonly known for fighting and challenging other fish in aquariums. Therefore, it is important that you put Oscar fish in a 55 gallon fish tank with other aggressive fish that can hold their own ground.

5) Green Texas Cichlid

Contrary to what the name suggests, the Green Texas cichlid can actually be a range of colors, and not just green. This species is certainly the biggest wild card on the list, and by far the most aggressive. This species is perfect if you want an aggressive, predator filled 55 gallon fish tank. The Green Texas Cichlid will challenge just about any fish that is in the tank with it. Therefore, if you are going to get this fish, you should make sure the other fish in the tank are bigger and aggressive.
